Tailor each resume to a specific industry.
Learn how to talk about yourself. I know for some of you this is a tough concept, but you have to get comfortable with it, if you are going to get a job. Throughout your job search you will be talking with many people in many different positions at different levels. You must be comfortable having conversations about yourself with others. Keep in mind that you never know what or who may appear to being useful to you in your job hunt.
Compose a speech. You never know who you’ll meet in an elevator, in line at the coffee supermarket, or on the street. Know what your skills are and how to communicate them to others. You should be able to talk to prospective employers along with others you meet about what you can offer there company or industry. You should also be able to talk about how your skills will relate to the industries that you’re interested in.
Discover all there is about the employers in your field. This means research! Try to stay current on all the issues or developments in your area, read trade journals, professional publications, or the newspaper. You can always visit the Internet and Google it. It is very impressive to employers during an appointment if you know all about the latest merger or industry modernizations and news.
Follow-up with leads immediately. I cannot focus on this enough. If you discover a jobs in Ohio position late in the day, call immediately. Don’t wait until the next day. You have to seize on any lead that you find when you find it. And if all possible get a phone number and contact them directly to get them on the phone.
Stay confident and positive hunting for jobs in Ohio is going to take time and energy. Remain confident, but prepare yourself for all the issues ahead.
